Frequently Asked Questions
Which month is Umrah cheap?
There is no single month in which Umrah is always cheapest. Package prices depend on airfare, hotel demand, room occupancy, distance from the Haram and the departure city.
Prices are usually lower outside Ramadan, school holidays, year-end holidays and other high-demand periods. The weeks after the Hajj season, once the Umrah season reopens, and ordinary travel weeks can sometimes offer better rates. However, availability and Saudi entry rules must be checked for the selected dates. Umrah cannot be performed by regular Umrah visitors during the restricted Hajj period.
Travelers seeking a lower price should compare flexible departure dates, shared accommodation and hotels that provide shuttle service rather than limiting their search to properties immediately beside the Haram.
How much money do I need for Umrah?
The required amount depends on the package duration, airline, hotel category, room occupancy and included services. For this package, prices start from PKR 230,000 per person for sharing accommodation. Quad costs PKR 238,000, triple costs PKR 250,000 and double occupancy costs PKR 272,000 per person.
In addition to the package price, travelers should budget separately for any service that is not listed as included. These expenses may include:
- Meals and refreshments
- Local SIM or internet access
- Laundry
- Private taxis or additional transport
- Medicines and personal-care products
- Shopping and gifts
- Excess baggage
- Emergency expenses
Ask for a written list of inclusions before payment. This makes it easier to calculate the total cost instead of relying only on the advertised starting price.
Which month is less crowded for Umrah?
Crowds are generally heavier during Ramadan, major Islamic occasions, school holidays and popular travel periods. Ordinary weeks outside these peak periods are usually easier for pilgrims seeking a calmer experience.
The period after Hajj, once Umrah travel officially resumes, can sometimes be quieter than Ramadan and year-end holidays. However, crowd levels change every year according to visa availability, public holidays, flight schedules and events in Saudi Arabia. No month can be guaranteed as completely quiet.
The time of day also makes a considerable difference. In August 2026, the authority responsible for the Two Holy Mosques reported lower crowd density between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM and between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, while 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM was identified as a busier period. Travelers should still check current crowd information because conditions can change.
Can I do Umrah at night?
Yes, Umrah can be performed at night. Many pilgrims prefer late-night or early-morning hours because the temperature can be more comfortable and crowd movement may be easier.
Official crowd guidance issued in 2026 identified 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM as one of the lower-density periods at the Grand Mosque. However, crowd levels are not fixed and may increase during Ramadan, weekends, holidays and major travel periods.
Before leaving the hotel, check the current access instructions and any applicable permit requirements through official Saudi channels such as Nusuk. Elderly pilgrims and families should also consider transport availability, walking distance and the time required to return to the hotel.
What is not allowed during Umrah?
The main restrictions apply after a pilgrim makes the intention for Umrah and enters the state of Ihram. While in Ihram, pilgrims must avoid:
- Cutting, shaving or intentionally removing hair
- Trimming or cutting the nails
- Applying perfume or fragranced products after entering Ihram
- Sexual relations and intimate acts
- Hunting land animals
- Entering into a marriage contract
Men in Ihram must also follow the prescribed clothing rules and avoid covering the head. Women should wear modest clothing that meets the applicable Ihram requirements.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s guidance specifically identifies cutting hair or nails, using perfume and sexual relations as prohibited after entering Ihram. These Ihram restrictions end after the pilgrim completes Tawaf and Sa’i and then shaves or shortens the hair correctly.
Pilgrims should also avoid pushing, arguing, disturbing other worshippers, littering or blocking walking routes. Anyone uncertain about a religious ruling or an accidental violation should consult a qualified Islamic scholar rather than relying only on general travel advice.
