6 Days Naran Kaghan Tour Plan
Day 1: Islamabad to Naran Valley
Meals: Breakfast at Balakot Al Noor Restaurant
Hotel: Naran Retreat Hotel
Our driver picks you up from your Islamabad hotel at 7:00 AM. The drive to Naran takes six to seven hours through the Kaghan Valley road.
Your first stop is breakfast at Balakot Al Noor Restaurant. The restaurant serves traditional Pakistani food.
From Balakot, the road climbs through dense forest areas. Trees become thicker as you drive higher. The air temperature drops noticeably as you gain elevation. After two more hours of driving, you reach Kiwai Waterfall near Balakot town.
Kiwai Waterfall flows down from high rocks into a pool below. You can walk around the area and take photographs from different angles. The water is extremely cold but refreshing. You spend around 45 minutes at the waterfall.
You continue driving toward Naran town. By late afternoon, you reach Naran and check into your hotel.
In the evening, you walk through Naran Bazaar. The bazaar has shops selling wool items, fresh fruits, local handicrafts, and regional snacks. Most shops close by 8:00 PM.
Day 2: Saiful Malook Lake and River Rafting
Meals: Breakfast at hotel
Hotel: Naran Retreat Hotel
You have breakfast at the hotel before heading to Lake Saiful Malook. The lake is 20 kilometres from Naran but the road is too steep for regular vehicles. We use 4×4 jeeps for this mountain road.
The jeep climbs through forest roads for about one hour. The road has sharp turns and steep sections throughout the climb. You gain significant height during this drive through dense pine forests.
Saiful Malook Lake has clear blue water at 3,494 meters height. Snow-covered peaks surround the lake on all sides. Local legends say a prince fell in love with a fairy here many years ago.
You spend five hours at the lake. You can walk around the shore, sit quietly, or take photographs. A rest house at the lake serves hot tea and light snacks. You bring your own packed lunch or purchase snacks at the rest house.
The 4×4 jeep brings you back to Naran by early afternoon. You head to the rafting area in Naran by late afternoon.
The Kunhar River flows through the valley with both fast and slow water sections. You choose a section that matches your comfort level. Rafting takes two hours with a professional guide and proper safety equipment.
You wear a life jacket and helmet during rafting. The raft bounces through river rapids and splashes cold mountain water on you. After rafting, you can try the zipline if you want more activity. The zipline goes across the valley and takes about two minutes.
Day 3: Lulusar Lake and Babusar Top
Meals: Breakfast at hotel, lunch at Moon Restaurant
Hotel: Hotel Naran Retreat
You have breakfast at the hotel before the day’s mountain drive. Today you travel to the highest point on this tour.
The drive to Lulusar Lake takes three hours on steep winding roads. Trees become shorter as you gain elevation. The air becomes thinner as you climb higher into the mountains.
Lulusar Lake is quieter than Saiful Malook and receives fewer visitors. You can sit by the water and observe the surrounding mountain peaks in every direction. The lake water reflects the nearby peaks on calm days.
The Moon Restaurant near the lake serves tea and simple meals. You stop here for lunch or a tea break. The restaurant has clear views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
From Lulusar, the road climbs higher toward Babusar Top. The drive reaches 13,610 feet at the summit. The road becomes very narrow with sharp turns near the top. Trees disappear completely and you see only rocks and snow patches.
At Babusar Top, the air is thin and cold. Walking short distances may feel tiring due to low oxygen. The view covers multiple mountains and valleys in all directions. On clear days, the sky appears dark blue from this elevation.
Optional activities at the top include a giant swing over cliff edges and a short zipline ride. Both activities give unique views of the mountain landscape from extreme heights.
The return drive to Naran takes four hours. You arrive back at the hotel by evening.
Day 4: Shogran Valley
Meals: Breakfast at Hotel in Naran
Hotel: Hotel Chinar Resort, Balakot
You have breakfast before traveling to Shogran Valley on the opposite side of the main valley. The drive takes three to four hours on steep mountain roads.
We use 4×4 jeeps for the Shogran road. The route climbs through forests and mountain passes with many sharp turns throughout the journey.
Shogran Valley is at 2,300 meters with wide meadows and pine trees. The valley receives fewer visitors than Naran and Saiful Malook. The quieter environment makes it feel more peaceful and less crowded.
You walk through meadows and visit viewpoints showing the surrounding mountains. The views cover a wide area from high points in the valley.
Optional hiking to Siri Paye and Paye Top takes two to three hours on foot. These higher points show the main valley below and surrounding peaks. The hike is challenging but the views reward the effort.
Horse riding through the meadows is another option. Local guides bring horses for two-hour rides through forests and open grassland.
You check into Hotel Chinar Resort in Balakot for the night. The return drive from Shogran to Balakot takes three hours.
Day 5: Relaxation Day in Balakot
Meals: Breakfast at Hotel
Hotel: Hotel Demanchi Resort, Balakot
You wake up without a fixed schedule and have breakfast at the hotel. Check-out time is 11:00 AM.
Before leaving, you visit Kiwai Waterfall for a second time. Morning light creates different shadows and angles compared to your first visit. You spend time taking photographs in different weather and lighting conditions.
After the waterfall, you check into Hotel Demanchi Resort in Balakot. This is your final night before returning to Islamabad. The afternoon and evening are completely free.
You can rest at the hotel or walk around Balakot town independently. The town is smaller and quieter than Naran. This day helps your body recover before the long drive back to Islamabad.
Day 6: Return to Islamabad
Meals: Breakfast at Hotel
You have breakfast and check out at 11:30 AM. The drive back to Islamabad takes six to seven hours.
You travel the same Kaghan Valley road in the opposite direction. Several short stops happen along the way for tea, snacks, and rest breaks at roadside restaurants.
You arrive in Islamabad by evening. Your driver drops you at your hotel or home address. This completes your six-day Naran Kaghan tour.
